Biography:
Edward Widmer, USA Director, C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience and associate professor of history, Washington College, Maryland. Research interests focus on the history of African American music and American foreign policy. Former senior advisor to the president for special projects; director of the Clinton Administration History Project; special assistant to the president for National Security Affairs; foreign policy speechwriter for President Clinton; and director of speechwriting for the National Security Council, Washington, DC. Former lecturer of history and literature, Harvard University, Cambridge. B.A., history and literature of France and America, M.A., history, Ph.D., history of American civilization, Harvard University.
