Biography:
Joseph Straus is director of the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law, Munich, and the chairman of the managing board of the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC). He is professor of law at the universities of Munich and Ljubljana, and the Marshall B. Coyne visiting professor of international and comparative law at the George Washington School of Law in Washington, DC. Professor Straus is the author or co-author of more than 250 publications in the field of intellectual property law, especially in the field of the protection of biotechnical inventions. He is consultant to OECD, WIPO, UNCTAD, UNIDO, EC-Commission, World Bank, as well as the European Parliament and European Patent Office . Professor Straus holds a law diploma from the University of Ljubljana and received his Dr. jur. from Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich. He is accompanied by his wife.
