Head of Health Policy Management, Manchester Business School

Naomi is professor and head of the health management group at Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester. She convenes the Revans Academy for Action Learning and Research there. Additional roles include president (2007- 2010) of the European Health Management Association, which is based in Brussels and represents over 130 academic and service delivery bodies across 35 countries. Naomi is also a non-executive director on the board of North Staffordshire Primary Care Trust which secures healthcare for a local population of 210,000.

Naomi has a background of 30 years experience in health services management. Teaching, advisory and research interests include international comparisons of health systems, primary care, healthcare commissioning, board governance, and clinicians in management. Recent publications include joint editorship of A Reader in Health Policy and Management (2009), three book chapters on the role of boards in organisation performance, on healthcare reform, leadership, and governance, and a forthcoming article on the utility of action learning in higher education.
