Dr. Masako Ikegami is professor of political science at the Department of Political Science and former director of the Center for Pacific Asia Studies (CPAS) at Stockholm University. She is also adjunct professor at the School of Policy Studies, Kwansei-Gakuin University, Japan. Her research ranges from empirical analysis of defence R&D and production, defence policy-making process, arms control and disarmament, to East Asian regional security and confidence building measures. She is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), London, and a standing board member of the Swedish Pugwash on arms control & disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation. She holds a doctorate in sociology from the University of Tokyo and Ph.D. in peace and conflict research from Uppsala University, Sweden.
