Biography:
Antonio Armellini retired in September 2010 as Italian ambassador to the OECD in Paris. He was previously ambassador to India (2004-08), special envoy and head of the Italian Mission to Iraq, ambassador and international anti-terrorism coordinator, ambassador to Algeria, and roving ambassador to the CSCE. He served in different diplomatic positions in London, Warsaw, Brussels, Vienna, Addis Abeba, has long-standing experience in European security and European integration affairs, and was spokesperson to EU commissioner Altiero Spinelli in Brussels. He has written and lectured extensively on European integration and security;his book on India "L'elefante ha messo le ali" was published by Università Bocconi, Milan, in 2008. He is a member of the IISS in London and of IAI (Istituto Affari Internazionali) in Rome.
