Biography:
Gonzalo Sebastián Paz is a professorial lecturer in international affairs at the American University's School of International Service. He previously taught at the George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs. He is a pioneer in the studies of China and East Asian-Latin American relations. Dr. Paz was awarded several fellowships and honors, such as the Fulbright fellowship, GWU's Global Leader Fellowship, Korea Foundation Fellowship, Wilton Park's guest, and Smith Richardson Fellowship. He has also been an associated researcher at RAND, a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank and the Organization of American States. His most recent academic article is "China, United States, and Hegemonic Challenge (HC) in Latin America: An Overview & Some Lessons from Previous Instances of Hegemonic Challenge in the Region", China Quarterly, No. 209, March 29, 2012, pp. 18-34. Dr. Paz holds a J.D. and an M.A in international relations from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina, and an M.A and a Ph.D. in political science from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
