Biography:
Graham Thornicroft is professor of community psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, and is the head of the Health Service and Population Research Department. Since 2010, he has been director of the King’s Improvement Science, King’s Health Partners, and chair for Maudsley International. He has been a consultant psychiatrist at South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust since 1991. He is a fellow of the Association of European Psychiatrists and of the Academy of Medical Sciences. He is an NIHR senior investigator. He has made a significant contribution to the development of mental health policy in the UK, including chairing the Reference Group that wrote the National Service Framework for Adult Mental Health services. He took his undergraduate degree at Cambridge University in social and political science and trained in psychiatry at Guy’s Hospital.
