Biography:
Salman KHURSHID is chairman of the Department of Policy Planning and Coordination at the All India Congress Committee, New Delhi. He is a senior advocate of the Supreme Court of India, a member of the Indian National Congress, where he is actively involved in party affairs with a particular focus on minority issues. He is the president of Delhi Public School Society, and an associate of Hiru Advani & Co. Barristers. Mr. Khurshid is the former president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, and former spokesperson for the All India Congress Committee. From 1993 to 1996, he served as minister for state and external affairs, and, from 1991 to 1993, he was deputy minister of commerce in the Union Council of Ministers. Mr. Khurshid worked as an officer on special duty in the prime minister's office with the late Mrs. Indira Ghandi, and is a former lecturer in law at Trinity College, Oxford University, United Kingdom. Mr. Khurshid received a B.A. from St. Stephens College, Delhi University; and a B.A., B.C.L., and M.A. from Oxford Univeristy, UK.
