John Burkhardt is professor of higher education, and director of the Kellogg Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA. Prior to coming to the University, he served as program director for Leadership and Higher Education at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Battle Creek, Michigan and traveled extensively to promote higher education transformation in the United States and around the world. From 1989 to 1993 he was vice president for planning and administration at the University of Detroit Mercy and has had significant involvement with other institutes of higher learning. His current research interests include the role of leadership in transforming higher education environments. He received a B.A. in psychology and political science from Oakland University, an M.A. in education from Michigan State University, and an M.A. in psychology and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Michigan.
