Ricardo H. Dios Alemán is the total quality management consultant at Pathfinder International, for Project 2000, Peruvian Ministry of Health, Lima. Dr. Alemán leads the design and implementation of strategies for improving local and regional quality management teams. Concurrently he works for Health Services Development where he is responsible for the development of an innovative model for health services, which includes an integrated approach to family health problems and risks, and a strategy for community-based health surveillance. From 1995 to 1999, Dr. Alemán served as regional adviser to CARE Peru and the Pan-American Health Organization. In this position he provided technical assistance to regional health directorates for the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Continuous Quality Improvement Process. Prior to this, Dr. Alemán was regional director for the Ministry of Health where he introduced innovative procedures for the planning, development, and evaluation of health programs. Dr. Alemán graduated as a medical doctor from the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo, Peru.
