Karen Whalen Karen Whalen (Resource Specialist)

Biography:
Karen Whalen is the director of Communication at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation of Battle Creek, Michigan, where she is responsible for project information exchange as well as overseeing communications, media relations, publications planning, and related editorial support to Foundation officers. Before joining the Kellogg Foundation, Ms. Whalen was editor-in-chief of a college literary magazine. She has written articles for professional journals, and has won national and international awards for her work. Ms. Whalen received a master's degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Cambridge, Massachusetts and a bachelor's degree in English and Journalism from Michigan State University, East Lansing. Ms. Whalen has served as a resource specialist at Salzburg Seminar Session 395, Improving Access to Healthcare and Human Services: Elements of Success, 2002, and Session 417, Strengthening Democracy and Governance: Women and Political Power, 2004.
